👋🏼 Hi there! I'm Phaedra Trethan , waiting for snow to melt and temps to moderate so I can return to walking in the woods and watching birds. 🦅 🦉 🐦‍⬛

But first: Wait, hasn't Mercury been in retrograde since, like, March 2020 at least? Sure feels like it. 😵‍💫

SOTU takeaways

The country's economy is "roaring." Prices are "plummeting." Democrats and others opposing him are "crazy" and "destroying our country." President Trump delivered a defiant, marathon State of the Union address Tuesday amid polls showing Americans are deeply skeptical of his policies and leadership, and with his fellow Republicans worried about the midterm elections. The big takeaways.

Buckle up: White House Bureau Chief Susan Page looks at what the SOTU signals for the rest of Trump's second term.
Watch: Trump says the economy is booming. Are voters buying what he's selling? 💸
How will history remember this State of the Union address?
The response: Virginia Democratic Gov. Abigail Spanberger offers a rebuttal.
Watch: A Democratic lawmaker yelled at Trump during his address.

Epstein fallout

Larry Summers, the former Treasury Secretary and Harvard president, will resign from teaching at the Ivy League university at the end of the academic year. Summers' decision comes months after his ties with Jeffrey Epstein came to light. Summers, Harvard's president from 2001-06 and Treasury Secretary from 1999-2001, told the Harvard Crimson in November he was "deeply ashamed of my actions and recognize the pain they have caused."

Billionaire philanthropist Bill Gates admitted to affairs but denied engaging in any illegal behavior relating to his friendship with Epstein.
Some of Epstein's survivors were in the audience for last night's State of the Union address.
Analysis: The Epstein fallout is widening.

Real quick

Four people were killed in a stabbing attack outside a home in Washington state.
Dr. Casey Means, President Trump's pick for surgeon general, testified before a congressional committee. What she said about vaccines and autism. 💉
