Double your impact with a gift-matching opportunity!
| Dear Friend,
As you may know, one of the main pillars of our 25th anniversary campaign is to establish a Word on Fire order of priests. This order will help ensure that Word on Fire's work lasts long into the future, continuing to expand around the world and evangelize the culture. Watch here. | | | We have received an enthusiastic response to these plans from our donors and friends, who have pledged their prayers and support. In fact, a generous donor recently pledged to match every new gift that comes in, up to $500,000. This is a great opportunity for us and, if you have been thinking about making a gift, for you as well. If you would like to be a part of establishing this new order of priests for the Church, please consider making a gift today. | | MAKE A GIFT | | When you look at the great orders that have existed in the Church—the Franciscans, the Dominicans, the Jesuits—they were all formed to answer the most pressing questions of their time. And for us today, the most pressing question is how to draw people into—or back to—the Catholic faith. The demand right now of the Church is missionary. It's evangelization. We live in a culture where people need to be reintroduced to Christ and reinvited into a life with him in the Church. The theme of our 25th anniversary was "Duc in altum"—Go out into the deep! And that is exactly what these priests are meant to do. Quite simply, they will live and breathe evangelization after being formed in Word on Fire's ethos.
They could work in parishes or dioceses as directors of evangelization. They could teach in seminaries to train future priests in effective ways of proclaiming the gospel. Certainly, they could create videos, books, and other content, as I have done, to reach the religiously unaffiliated across online channels.
But whatever assignment they have, they will proclaim Christ in the culture and draw people into his Church. The possibilities, I think, are endless—and exciting.
With great anticipation, we hope to announce our first few candidates for the order this year. This also means that we will need to begin to house, feed, and train them—and to find the necessary funds to do so. If you are able, please consider making a gift to support our first candidates as we begin this journey together. I am hopeful that this will become a lasting order in the Church, leading the way in evangelization for centuries to come. Please pray for us and these future candidates, that we may continue to be guided by the Holy Spirit. May God bless you. In Christ, | | | Bishop Robert Barron
P.S. As a reminder of our call to evangelize—to proclaim Jesus Christ crucified and risen from the dead—we are offering this beautiful twelve-inch wooden crucifix as a thank you for donations of $500 or more. And don't forget, all donations will be matched, up to $500,000. Thank you for considering a gift, and again, please support this new order with your prayers! | | | | | | |
