Talking Tech: It's Apple season. Who's ready for iPhone 14?

Apple season is here. The tech giant announced plans to host an event next month, where they are widely expected to unveil the iPhone 14. ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌

Talking Tech

Thursday, August 25

It's Thursday, also known as Friday eve. This is Brett Molina counting down to the unofficial end of summer with this week's top tech headlines.

Fall is approaching. It's like we're driving on the highway and various mile markers pop up indicating how much closer we get.

Pumpkin spice is here? Check.

The NFL preseason is underway? Check.

The new Madden NFL video game is here? Check.

But for many tech fans, there's another event that pops up signaling another step toward the season of sweaters and falling leaves: Apple's iPhone event.

On Wednesday, Apple formally confirmed its next iPhone event, kicking off Sept. 7. In typical fashion, Apple isn't saying what they'll reveal. But unless the tech giant upends years of tradition, it's more than likely we'll see the iPhone 14.

So what does this mean? Based on previous history, the new iPhone typically launches the next week on a Friday. If Apple's new iPhone follows tradition, then we likely get an iPhone 14 on Sept. 16.

Then there's iOS 16, the operating system update coming to most iPhones. We should see that launch the week of Sept. 12, if Apple history repeats itself.

What else happened in tech?

Want Netflix or Disney+ for free? It's doable. These are some ways you can find your favorite streaming services free of charge.

Are you a parent with young kids? Cars.com created a report car breaking down the top vehicles based on how well they accommodate a car seat.

Bye-bye tech bubble. Experts say it burst, but investors can find good discounts.

Thursday's tech tip

Printers are useful, until you stop using them for several months, the ink dries up and that document you just printed looks like a hot mess. These three tips will help keep that printer in tip-top shape.
