GOP tensions on Capitol Hill

Between the Senate and House of Representatives, there are vastly different expectations among GOP lawmakers as to what they can accomplish over the remainder of the year. The centerpieces of President Donald Trump's agenda – enacting voting restrictions, ramping up defense spending amid the Iran war, confirming Cabinet nominees and a longshot effort to eliminate the Senate's filibuster – have sown intraparty discord.

Internal strategy documents obtained by USA TODAY from within the Senate Republican Conference have warned of "stories of conflict between Republicans."

The Pittsburgh Steelers were among NFL teams at training camps across the country on Monday. Regular season kicks off on Sept. 9, but no need to wait: The annual Hall of Fame game is the first preseason matchup on Thursday.

Younger 'sandwich generation' forgets retirement

America's sandwich caregivers, those simultaneously taking care of aging parents and children, took on their dual care responsibilities at 34 years old on average, according to Care.com's 2026 Sandwich Generation Report. That's younger than the typical age — and balancing the costs of child care and senior care simultaneously is reshaping nearly every one of their financial decisions.
