Good MorningU.S. stocks advanced after tame inflation data eased concerns about renewed inflation pressures and bolstered expectations that the Federal Reserve could have room to keep interest rates steady. The S&P 500 closed at a record high, while the Nasdaq also climbed and the Dow posted a modest gain. Cooler producer-price data followed a benign CPI reading, further easing inflation concerns.
Technology and artificial intelligence remained central to market action. NVIDIA rose as investors continued to focus on AI demand, while Micron extended gains on strength in the AI-memory trade. Sandisk surged after outlining long-term profitability targets and an AI storage roadmap. Applied Materials reported 25% revenue growth and beat estimates, though its shares fell in after-hours trading.
Deal speculation also lifted Workday, whose shares jumped after reports that Silver Lake is in talks to acquire the software company. Elsewhere, investors continued to weigh consumer pressure, with average auto-loan payments reaching $785 per month as Americans borrowed a record $211 billion for vehicles last quarter.
