Dear Friend,

The Catholic Church is called to go to the margins, and few places are further on the margins than the prison system. Today, we want to share a moving video testimonial from Dcn. Dan, the director of criminal justice for the Diocese of San Angelo in West Texas. His ministry faces the monumental task of serving a massive inmate population spread across 37,000 miles and 29 counties. To support this vital mission, the Works of Mercy Fund has sent 5 large shipments of Catholic resources—like Bibles and rosaries—over the past 18 months. Watch.

In the video, Dcn. Dan shares that carrying out an effective prison ministry would simply be impossible without these free materials. The demand for Bibles, rosaries, and booklets is extraordinarily high among incarcerated individuals. Teams of volunteers regularly deliver these supplies to local jails and state prisons throughout the region, including facilities in Odessa, San Angelo, Midland, Colorado City (including the Wallace Unit), Fort Stockton, Abilene, and the Tom Green County Jail. When the men and women behind bars receive these gifts, they report a profound feeling of peace, finding spiritual healing in a place where hope is easily lost.

To keep providing these educational and spiritual materials for free to prisons across the nation, we rely entirely on the generosity of this community. Will you make a gift today?

MAKE A GIFT

The impact of your generosity reaches far beyond the correctional facilities of West Texas. The Works of Mercy Fund is dedicated to distributing high-quality Catholic materials to underserved communities wherever they are needed most. By supporting this fund, you directly benefit people on the margins who hunger for the truth of the gospel. This includes inmates in prisons, patients in hospitals, service members in the military, and struggling families in poor parishes. Your support provides the books and prayer resources that bring the presence of Christ into places of deep isolation.

Please join us in praying for Dcn. Dan, the volunteers, and all the incarcerated men and women seeking God’s mercy. If you are able, please consider making a donation today to help us send the next wave of Scripture and hope to those on the margins.

God bless you,
