This Memorial Day, as we pause to remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service of our nation, we are reminded of our duty to support those who currently stand the watch.
In 2024, Word on Fire launched the Works of Mercy Fund with a specific mission: bring Christ to the margins. Because of your generosity, we have been able to extend that mission to those serving in the military—providing high-quality educational and spiritual resources to service members and their families.
We received a video from Fr. Paul, the senior command chaplain at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He shares how your support is directly impacting lives, helping soldiers prepare to enter the Church and providing faith formation resources they can use anywhere in the world. Watch.

“I want to thank the Word on Fire Works of Mercy Fund for all that you’ve done for us in providing both digital as well as hard-copy resources for soldiers and their families,” Fr. Paul said.
To date, we have sent resources to 41 military bases, installations, and organizations, including the Catholic Military Apostolate, the Archdiocese for the Military Services, Dover Air Force Base, the USS Philippine Sea, Schofield Barracks, the Air Force Academy, Naval Special Warfare Group Two, the US Navy, the Marine Corps Reserve, Naval Air Force Atlantic, Incirlik Air Base in Turkey, and the Royal Navy in the United Kingdom, among others.
Through the Works of Mercy Fund, we have distributed over 50,000 items: 11,950 paperback books; 7,093 hardcover books; 7,218 books in Spanish; 1,819 DVDs; 5,045 study guides; 4,222 Bibles; 3,790 rosaries; 4,425 children’s books; 6,698 prayer booklets; and 161 lifetime memberships to our digital films library.
