Dear Friend,

Deacon Mike O. from the Diocese of Austin shares his gratitude for Word on Fire's support of the Catholic ministry at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice's Bartlett Innovation Unit prison. Watch here.

Deacon Mike says, "Since its revival in October 2024, the Catholic ministry at Bartlett has flourished both spiritually and numerically. Central to this growth has been the support of the Works of Mercy Fund, which has enabled us to provide Word on Fire materials to our participants. These materials have been a key part of their spiritual growth."

He continued, "During weekly sessions, men engage deeply with Word on Fire content, often watching videos and regularly using Rosary guides to enrich their prayer life. With approximately 25 percent of the congregation being Spanish-speaking, it has also been a blessing to have the content available in both English and Spanish."

Deacon Mike explained, "What began as a modest effort with only two volunteers has transformed into a vibrant community supported by two priests, four deacons, and several lay volunteers. Weekly attendance has doubled, growing from twenty inmates to more than forty men actively participating in services. The ministry's sacramental life is thriving, with seven men currently enrolled in OCIA and preparing to receive their sacraments this Easter."

You can be a part of these evangelization efforts by supporting the Works of Mercy Fund, which allows us to send educational resources for free to the underprivileged. Make a gift today to help us reach those who most need to hear about God's love and mercy.

SUPPORT THE WORKS OF MERCY FUND

Finally, Deacon Mike adds, "Beyond the walls of Bartlett, the fruits of this work are evident. Over the past eighteen months, several formerly incarcerated men have successfully reintegrated into society and become active members of Catholic parishes in their home communities."

We are profoundly grateful to be part of the work God is doing to change lives through evangelization. Through the Works of Mercy Fund, we are able to place transformative Catholic resources into the hands of those who are often forgotten, helping faith take root and flourish even in the most difficult circumstances.

With your continued support of the Works of Mercy Fund, we can carry this mission even further. Make a gift today to help ensure more stories like this one, more transformed lives, and more hearts awakened to Christ's love and mercy.

God bless you,

The Word on Fire Team
