Good morning. In an interview that is making headlines nationwide, U.S. Senate candidate and Texas state Rep. James Talarico claimed on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" that the Bible has nothing to say about abortion or gay marriage. He also said Jesus Christ taught that salvation is obtained by treating people well and "welcoming the stranger." Another interview circulating on socials features former Sen. Ben Sasse, who is undergoing treatment for Stage 4 pancreatic cancer. In the interview, Sasse discusses the hope and comfort he finds in the righteousness of Jesus Christ as he faces imminent death. Turning to international affairs, one hot topic this month has been the Israeli Security Cabinet’s decision to repeal a law that prevented Jews from buying land in Judea and Samaria. The Palestinian Authority has denounced the move, calling it an “attempt to legalize settlement expansion, land confiscation, and the demolition of Palestinian properties.” In New York, a pastor and four firefighters were critically injured this week after a massive explosion destroyed a church, but left survivors grateful to be alive. |
