Now, here's Friday's news, from the president's Insurrection Act threats to a Greenland construction project. Plus, why did a crew of astronauts return early?

Trump threatens Insurrection Act in Minnesota

President Donald Trump on Thursday threatened to invoke the Insurrection Act, which would give him authority to deploy U.S. armed forces domestically, as tensions rise in Minnesota following a second shooting involving a federal agent in Minneapolis.

The Department of Homeland Security has sent about 3,000 federal agents into the Minneapolis area, dwarfing the local police presence, defended agents' actions and denounced local officials for not assisting immigration officers.

Meanwhile, state and local officials in Minnesota, who filed a lawsuit to halt the federal intervention, described ICE's actions as "intolerable" and called on protesters to remain peaceful. Demonstrations, and clashes, between residents and the agents continue.

Here's a closer look at the Insurrection Act and when U.S. presidents have turned to it in the past.

Why NASA's Crew-11 mission returned to Earth early

For the first time in the history of America's space program, an astronaut experienced a health issue that required NASA to end a mission early to get that person home. Crew-11  splashed down from the International Space Station early Thursday off the coast of California, leaving behind a skeleton crew on the orbital outpost. NASA officials said now medical professionals can better evaluate the condition of the ailing astronaut.
