The Short List

👋🏼 Hi there! I'm Phaedra Trethan, freezing from the cold but also kind of sweating retirement.

In Wednesday's news:

President Trump addressed the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
Some lawmakers are considering whether they can invoke a never-before used provision of the Constitution against Trump.
A massive winter storm could dump several inches of snow and ice across a wide swath of the U.S. ❄️ 🥶

Trump: 'Framework' for a deal on Greenland

President Trump said Wednesday there was a "framework of a future deal" on Greenland, backing off threats of new tariffs on European countries while at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. Trump did not say whether the deal involves the United States' acquisition of Greenland, a territory of Denmark. The latest.

What if Trump is 'unfit to lead'?

Several Democratic lawmakers are calling on the Trump administration's Cabinet and GOP congressional leaders to do something that's never been done before: Invoke the 25th Amendment and remove Donald Trump from office.

Some cited a weekend text to the Norwegian prime minister in which Trump linked his desire to annex Greenland to not winning a Nobel Prize (the Norwegian government does not award Nobels). One called Trump "unfit to lead" and "clearly out of control." So what is the 25th Amendment, and can it be used to remove Trump from office?

The Supreme Court seems unlikely to let Trump fire a member of the Federal Reserve board.

❄️ 💨 🥶 Bad weather bearing down

More than 110 million Americans are bracing for a massive weather system that looks like it will dump heavy snow and treacherous ice across a wide section of the country. Temperatures will plunge throughout half of the U.S. states from Texas, across the Plains and the South, and up through the Great Lakes and the Northeast. What the latest forecasts are saying.

Hot date, hot take?

The latest dating trend is a hot one. A hot take , to be precise.

It's simple, if a bit risky (but what do I know about modern dating, being married 19 years?): Share your most out-there opinions, your most honest viewpoints, your politics and your personal beliefs right away. Then the people who'll be less compatible with you will weed themselves out − and you'll find like-minded mates more quickly.
