See who is officially out (and in) on this popular sketch comedy show. Women who say they were abused by Jeffrey Epstein speak out. And young people are struggling to pay massive student loan bills. |
👋 Hello! Rebecca Morin here. A huge thanks to my colleague Priya Kaur, who did a fantastic job covering me while I was dancing to Bad Bunny in Puerto Rico. |
But first: $1.3 billion. *Cues Doctor Evil's laugh.* 🤑 If you want a chance to win Powerball's eye-popping $1.3 billion jackpot tonight, here's what to know. | Live from New York, it's some new blood! "Saturday Night Live" has added five featured players for its 51st season in the fall, NBC announced Tuesday: Tommy Brennan, Jeremy Culhane, Ben Marshall, Kam Patterson and Veronika Slowikowska. In recent days, Devon Walker, Michael Longfellow and Emil Wakim – some of my favorite cast members – have announced their exits from the sketch show. 👉 See where you might know the new comics. | Scarlett Johansson and the cast of "Saturday Night Live" on May 17, 2025 Will Heath, NBC |
Epstein victims speak out |
Women who say they were abused by disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein on Wednesday spoke out in a rally near the U.S. Capitol to pressure the Justice Department to release all the criminal investigative files in the case. The demands pose a challenge for President Donald Trump, who was once friends with Epstein, and some Republican congressional leaders who demanded more information about Epstein for years but now say the full release of documents could hurt his victims. 👉 See what the women said. |
Why rally now? The House is fighting over a bill to force the Justice Department to release records from its criminal investigation into Epstein. An effort to force a vote on the measure is two votes short of a majority, and Trump and leading Republicans are trying to make sure it doesn't get there. 👉 What's in the bill. | People attend a rally to support victims of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein in Washington, D.C., on September 3, 2025. One state moves to kill vaccine mandates | Florida is saying goodbye to all vaccine mandates in the state. "Every last one of them is wrong and drips with disdain and slavery," said Dr. Joseph Ladapo, Florida's surgeon general, at a news conference Wednesday. Ladapo said that the Florida Department of Health, which he heads, will repeal the rules within his purview that require vaccines and that Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis and the state Legislature will work to repeal the rest. |
Vaccine requirements: According to Florida law, immunizations are required for polio, diphtheria, rubeola, rubella, pertussis, mumps, tetanus and other communicable diseases as determined by the Department of Health. 👉 See what the new change means. |
Already scraping by to pay for rent, day care and basic goods, Pablo Pratt, 28, is now also worrying about the $582 in student loan interest that has quietly hit his account. President Donald Trump eliminated former President Joe Biden's SAVE plan and made changes to federal aid. Young people like Pratt, who has $130,000 in student loan debt, say they're panic-applying to jobs, experiencing anxiety and, in extreme cases, discussing moves out of the country. Some are being pushed out of higher education altogether. 👉 How students are struggling to pay back student loans. | Pablo Pratt is one of eight million Americans enrolled on the Saving on a Valuable Education (SAVE) plan who started accruing interest on their loans for the first time in a year. The move is already impacting his day-to-day finances. Courtesy of Pablo Pratt |
