Trade war rattles markets

Amid his aggressive tariff plan, President Donald Trump says he wants Americans to remain "patient." But the stock market seesawed Monday – plunging at the open, seeing some relief and then dipping back down – as the president doubled down and threatened to slam China with an additional 50% levy.

Will there be relief? Trump said that he's not considering pausing his recently imposed tariffs that sent the stock market spiraling but is willing to negotiate the duties with other nations. 👉 Follow today's updates.

Deported Maryland man's return delayed

The Supreme Court on Monday placed a hold on a judge's order that required the Trump administration to bring back Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Maryland father who was mistakenly deported to El Salvador, by the end of the day. The decision from Chief Justice John Roberts will give the court more time to review the case. He ordered lawyers in the case to respond by 5 p.m. Tuesday. On Friday, a federal district judge had ruled that the government acted illegally in expelling Abrego Garcia and gave it until the end of Monday to bring him back. 👉 How an "administrative error" led to Abrego Garcia's deportation.
