Israel says it killed Hamas leader |
After a yearlong pursuit, Israel said Thursday that it killed Hamas' military leader Yahya Sinwar, regarded as the architect of the militant group's Oct. 7, 2023, attacks on Israel. "Today we have settled the score," Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, vowing to continue the war in Gaza until all the remaining Israeli hostages taken by Hamas were returned. Sinwar has been Hamas's top leader in Gaza for years. Report: Secret Service 'complacent' |
The Secret Service has become bureaucratic and complacent and an overhaul is needed, according to an independent review released Thursday of the first assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump. Ronald Rowe, the acting director, said in a statement he would carefully examine the report and recommendations, but that the agency has already begun improving security for its protectees. |

The hunter's moon – the first full moon of fall – will rise Thursday in the eastern sky around sunset. And as a bonus, this month's full moon will also be a supermoon.
