Hurricane Milton loses steam – before gaining strength again. A new book claims Donald Trump has spoken to Vladimir Putin multiple times since he left office. And we're diving into America's generational divides. |
👋 Hi, It's Julius here with Tuesday's news. |
Milton weakens, but not for long | President Joe Biden warned Tuesday that Hurricane Milton could be one of the worst storms to hit Florida in a century and urged anyone under an evacuation order to leave. "It's a matter of life and death," he said. Although Milton's wind speed dropped dramatically Tuesday, it regained strength later in the day, eventually returning to Category 5 status. The National Hurricane Center said the storm could double in size before slamming into west-central Florida late Wednesday. More than 1 million people were under evacuation orders in at least 16 counties, and both numbers were expected to climb. 🌀 Follow for the latest updates on Milton. | A satellite image taken Tuesday afternoon shows Hurricane Milton spinning in the Gulf of Mexico as it takes aim at Florida. Book: Trump spoke with Putin multiples times after presidency | Former President Donald Trump has spoken with Russian President Vladimir Putin as many as seven times since leaving the White House, according to reporting from famed journalist Bob Woodward's new book, "War." The conversations cover a period before and after Russia's 2022 invasion of Ukraine. Woodward also reports that Trump, while he was president, shipped Putin COVID-19 testing machines when such testing was rare. The Trump campaign rejected Woodward's reporting in a statement, calling it "made up stories." 📕 More on what's in Woodward's book. | Vladimir Putin, left, shakes hands with Donald Trump during the G20 summit in 2019.
