Losing a pet can be devastating. Making the decision out of love is something that sticks with you for the rest of your life.

Many of us have been there or know somebody who has. The moment of being in the room when our pet passed away. Today we have a column on what that experience is like and what it means to make that decision.

"The vet asked me if I wanted to be present. Wanted? No. But will I? Absolutely. I was not going to abandon Jessie when she needed me most."
