This is Betty Lin-Fisher with the top headlines of the day. The Sandwich Generation – adults who are both caring for their children and their aging parents – are struggling. A Wealth Watch survey released by insurer New York Life spotlights the cost of caregiving in time and money, to midlife Americans who are sandwiched between two generations. The average adult in the Sandwich Generation reports providing 50 hours a week – roughly split in half for children and aging parents – of care. Roughly half of those adults also said they were unable at some point this past year to cover essential expenses like rent, groceries or medical care, because of the caregiving costs. . Amazon on Thursday announced at the 2023 Los Angeles Auto Show that it would start selling Hyundai cars online next year. Shoppers will be able to go on Amazon and filter available cars in their area.
