World News: Talking Tech: Your iPhone will soon be more secure

Hey, it's Thursday, which means more Talking Tech. It's Brett Molina here with fresh headlines as I put off my holiday shopping for another day.

Let's begin with the iPhone. Most of us own one – except my editor, who proudly reminds me she uses an Android. Soon, Apple will make its signature smartphone and other devices more secure.

On Wednesday, Apple will roll out several security features, including support for end-to-end encryption for iCloud.

So what does that mean? Any data eligible under end-to-end encryption can't be read during transit. If you send a message, only the sender and recipient can view it. If you upload iPhone cloud backups, photos or notes, they're only visible to you. As Apple points out, not even they can view this data.

Apple will also add Contact Key Verification for iMessage, a feature that allows users to confirm the identity of the person they're messaging.
