Talking Tech: Happy Tech-giving! Some reasons to be thankful

Since it is Thanksgiving, it's always nice to step back and reflect on what makes us thankful this year. ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌

Talking Tech

Wednesday, November 23

I know, it's not Thursday. But it is Thursday eve. It's Brett Molina back again, this time on a Wednesday, because I don't think you want to read the tech ramblings of a journalist after two full plates of Thanksgiving food on the holiday itself.

Since it is Thanksgiving, it's always nice to step back and reflect on what makes us thankful this year. Of course, this is a tech newsletter, so I'm going to focus on the tech I have been appreciating this year.

My smartphone. I know, this feels generic. But this year, I replaced my iPhone 12 Mini with an iPhone 14 Pro Max, so I'm extra thankful for the big screen upgrade.

Portable chargers. This year, I traveled a lot. And I greatly appreciate the peace of mind that comes with having a portable charger handy in case of emergencies. Side note: highly recommend Anker portable chargers if you don't have one.

Marvel Snap. I cannot praise this new card game featuring Marvel superheroes and villains enough. You build decks with a variety of characters and compete in matches that average about three minutes in length. And unlike many free-to-play mobile games, it's not constantly begging you to spend money.

What are you thankful for? Let me know on Twitter (while it's still here).

What else happened in tech?

The latest on Twitter. Amid the chaos, users are worried about their data.

Guess who's back? Back again? Twitter lifted the ban on Donald Trump.

The great crypto collapse. FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried speaks out.

Thursday (eve) tech tip

By now, you have likely come across a QR code. They're those pixelated boxes you might find at restaurants and businesses you scan with a camera to access a website or other information. Fun fact: You don't need an app exclusively for scanning QR codes. Here's what you need to know about scanning QR codes on your smartphone.

One more thing

Let's keep this simple, and maybe a little sappy. Thank you to every reader who subscribes to Talking Tech. This humble writer appreciates your time and love of all things tech.

Happy Thanksgiving! See you next Thursday.
