So many reasons to be thrilled it's Thursday, Talking Tech readers. It's St. Patrick's Day. For basketball fans, it's the start of March Madness. But the best part is you get to read today's newsletter.

Let's start with Netflix. Admit it: Either you or someone you know shares a Netflix account with a friend, family member or loved one who lives somewhere else.

Maybe they borrowed your login to check out "Cobra Kai," or they love Ryan Reynolds and needed to watch "The Adam Project." We have our reasons for account sharing.

Netflix has largely turned the other way. But new features they're planning to test suggest they don't want us sharing our accounts for free anymore.

The company said Wednesday it's testing two features in Chile, Costa Rica and Peru linked to our love of sharing. First, users in those countries will get the option to add an "extra member" to their account for a couple dollars more per month. That extra member gets their own profile, recommendations, and login.

A second feature would allow users to transfer their profiles to their own separate account or as an "extra member" account.

Netflix claims the account sharing is "impacting our ability to invest in great new TV and films for our members."

So is this the beginning of the end of sharing our Netflix passwords with loved ones for free? It's possible.
