Climate change denial is deadly
Did you see the big news on climate change released on Monday? Things aren't looking great.

Top climate scientists from around the world warned of a "code red for humanity" in a report issued Monday that says severe, human-caused global warming is becoming unassailable. Proof of the findings by the United Nations' Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change is a now a factor of daily life.

So we have for you this evening a look at some of the USA TODAY Opinion columns focusing on climate change.

Inaction on climate change is no longer an option

On COVID-19 and climate change, denialism is deadly

The Editorial Board

If there were any lingering doubts about the undermining of science as the COVID-19 crisis erupted last year, Dr. Anthony Fauci has horror stories to prove otherwise. In a series of recent interviews, most notably with The New York Times, the nation's leading infectious disease expert revealed how his informed advice for grappling with a growing pandemic was all but dismissed by a White House flirting with denialism.

Florida condo collapse warns us we must adapt to rising seas

By Zhong-Ren Peng

My state of Florida has 1,350 miles of coastline, second only to Alaska and far longer than the California and Hawaii coasts. Rising sea levels, increases in storm surges and greater rainfall intensity and frequency all have elevated the risk of flooding and thus saltwater intrusion in coastal areas. Florida's low elevation makes it particularly vulnerable to flooding, but other states face similar challenges due to rising seas.

On climate change, government-centric approach will hurt USA

By Nicolas Loris

Climate change is real, and man-made emissions are indeed having an impact. However, many of the subsidies and regulations being proposed are costly and ineffective, benefiting the well-connected rather than the planet.

Take President Joe Biden's expected moratorium on new oil and natural gas leases and drilling permits on federal lands.
