The Supreme Court's second-ever female justice leaves behind a huge legacy -- and a pending contentious fight over her replacement.

The world changed in many ways Friday.

Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the second woman to sit on the nation's high court and an icon for scores of men and women , died after a long battle with cancer. Her death was a crushing blow for many on the left, and was mourned across the political spectrum. But as this is Washington, the politics of the moment began to immediately dominate the conversation.

Would President Donald Trump put up a nominee? (Yes.) Would the Republicans in the Senate agree to give that nominee a hearing? (Again, for the most part, yes.) Has the 2020 presidential election gotten another earth-shifting issue tossed into the debate? ( Very yes.)

On Monday, it was announced that Bader Ginsburg would be the first woman ever to lie in state at the U.S. Capitol.

Here's what else we know:

•	Trump says he'll probably announce his pick for the high court at the end of the week.
•	Joe Biden says he isn't releasing a list of possible justices for the court.
•	There are two frontrunners, it seems, at the top of Trump's list; both are women.

Tuesday is National Voter Registration Day, a day created in 2012 and dedicated to "create broad awareness of voter registration opportunities" for thousands of Americans with the help of an online campaign and volunteers who "hit the streets" in a coordinated event, according to the National Voter Registration Day site. The day is a massive effort to register voters before the upcoming elections in the fall.
