Thursday, you beautiful almost-weekend day, glad to see you.
It was a busy one in the land of politics, starting with the news that the Justice Department is dropping its case against President Donald Trump's former national security adviser, Michael Flynn.
Flynn pleaded guilty to charges of lying about contact with a Russian ambassador. But Flynn had sought to withdraw that plea, and his prosecution was being reviewed. In new court documents, federal prosecutors asserted the FBI's interview of Flynn was "unjustified."
"They tormented him - dirty cops tormented General Flynn," Trump told reporters at the White House last week.
Joe Biden's accuser wants him to drop out
Tara Reade, who has accused Joe Biden of sexually assaulting her in the 1990s, has a direct request for the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee: "I wish he would (withdraw from the race)."
That's what Reade told Megyn Kelly Thursday in her first on-camera interview since Biden publicly denied her allegation. In a preview of the interview released on Twitter, Reade said it was "a little late" for an apology from Biden. Reade also told Kelly that she has had "really horrible things" said about her by Biden supporters on the Internet.
Kelly's interview with Reade was produced by Rich McHugh, who was Ronan Farrow's producer at NBC News during his investigation into the assault claims that toppled Harvey Weinstein. Wigdor LLP, a firm that has also represented Weinstein accusers, will represent Reade.
