Breaking Paddleboard Records to Fight Pollution

Lizzie Carr took up paddleboarding to get back in shape after undergoing treatment for cancer, and it wasn't long before she became dismayed by all the plastic pollution she saw floating in England's waterways. Soon enough, Lizzie was on plastic patrol, setting distance records in her sport while picking up trash along the way. Now she's getting communities involved in cleanup efforts all over the world.

New Orleans' Queen of Creole Cuisine

We were sad to learn that Leah Chase, the matriarch of Dooky Chase's Restaurant in New Orleans, has passed. Widely known as the queen of Creole cuisine, Chase served her Southern fare to world leaders and celebrities alike over her 71-year career. Though her gumbo and fried chicken are legendary, her restaurant—a culinary landmark—made history of its own by serving as a meeting place for the civil rights movement of the 1960s.
