Should the Justice Department put an end to special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia investigation? Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein doesn't think so.

"The special counsel is not an unguided missile," Rosenstein told USA TODAY's Kevin Johnson in an exclusive interview. "I don't believe there is any justification at this point for terminating the special counsel."

His remarks are among the first to address Mueller's status since reports first surfaced that President Trump wanted to get rid of him last summer.

So, what about his own job?

"I feel very confident in my ability to do the job," Rosenstein said. "In any political job, you recognize that your time is going to be limited. My goal is to get as much done for as long as I'm here in the job. And when my time is up, whenever that may be, I'm confident that I'm going to be able to look back proudly on the work our department has done while I've been fortunate enough to be here."

Nevertheless, she persisted

Stormy Daniels wants to talk. How much does she want to talk? Enough to hand over the $130,000 she was paid not to. Her grand plan is to wire the money to "an account designated by the president," because this is the world we live in.

Daniels - who wants the 60 Minutes interview she taped recently to go forward without any complications - has given Trump lawyer Michael Cohen until noon Tuesday to respond. But given that Cohen has continued to fight off Daniels' attempts to share the salacious details of her alleged affair with the president, we're not sure he's going to give in now.

She said what?

Education Secretary Betsy DeVos will lead a commission tasked with broadly examining how to protect schools from gun violence, the White House announced over the weekend.

Yet that isn't what people focused on Monday morning.

Instead, the chatter surrounded DeVos's interview with 60 Minutes. A sampling:

Leslie Stahl: "Have the public schools in Michigan gotten better?"

DeVos: "I don't know. Overall, I- I can't say overall that they have all gotten better."

Was it as bad as everyone says it was? Judge it for yourself.
