It's Tuesday, OP readers, and we're a bit overwhelmed with the news today. But then, when is that not the case?

The Harvey Weinstein political connection

If you haven't heard the news about Harvey Weinstein, we expect that you have just emerged from an underground locale where you don't have reception or access to the Internet. Reports from the New York Times and the New Yorker have detailed allegations of rape, sexual assault and sexual harassment.

And while this has led to an unraveling of sorts in Hollywood, we're also witnessing the ramifications in the political world, where Weinstein gave more than $1.4 million to candidates since the 1990s. Most of the recipients were Democrats, and since the news broke, many are saying that they are going to donate or give the funds back. It goes beyond donations, though: Both the Clintons and the Obamas know Weinstein personally.

So that makes the statements of Hillary Clinton and the Obama about the allegations against Weinstein a big deal.

Clinton: "I was shocked and appalled by the revelations about Harvey Weinstein. The behavior described by women coming forward cannot be tolerated. Their courage and support of others is critical in helping to stop this kind of behavior."

The Obamas : "Michelle and I have been disgusted by the recent reports about Harvey Weinstein. Any man who demeans and degrades women in such fashion needs to be condemned and held accountable, regardless of wealth or status. We should celebrate the courage of women who have come forward to tell these painful stories. And we all need to build a culture - including by empowering our girls and teaching our boys decency and respect - so we can make such behavior less prevalent in the future."

World War III? Nah, Trump says

Sen. Bob Corker may think U.S. foreign policy is steering us toward World War III, but President Trump couldn't disagree more.

"All you have to do is have to take a look," Trump told reporters on Tuesday. "If you look over the last 25 years, through numerous administrations, we were on the path to a very big problem, a problem like this world has never seen. We're on the right path right now, believe me."

Of course, this is coming from a president who is feuding with his own secretary of State and the head of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee (who he dubbed with a new nickname), so you can take that for what it's worth.
