Another week, another ongoing feud.

Just another day in the time of Trump.

Subscribe here and let's get to it.

Gotta get myself through the week somehow

The widow of Army Sg. La David Johnson described her controversial conversation with President Trump, saying it had made her "very angry."

Myeshia Johnson told Good Morning America that the president struggled during the condolence call: "Yes, the president said that he knew what he signed up for, but it hurts anyway. And it made me cry 'cause I was very angry at the tone of his voice and how he said he couldn't remember my husband's name."

Denying this account? Trump.

"I had a very respectful conversation with the widow of Sgt. La David Johnson, and spoke his name from beginning, without hesitation!" he tweeted.

The Defense Department is investigating the circumstances under which Johnson and three soldiers were killed by extremists earlier this month. Officials said the troops had called for air support after the fatal attack began.

Ain't it the truth

It's been months since President Trump said he would declare the opioid crisis a "national emergency." But his Food and Drug Administration chief insists that the administration won't repeat the mistakes of the past by not regulating opioids enough.

"We didn't get ahead of it. Nobody got ahead of it," he said last week. "The type of action we need to take to finally (address) this crisis is going to be far more dramatic than we would have had to do had we made certain decisions years ago."

How does he plan to do that?  Shorter-duration opioid prescriptions, more oversight of highly addictive immediate-release opioids and tightened requirements for abuse-deterrent formulas.
