Hello all. It's Rebecca Morin, senior national news reporter at USA TODAY. I actually got some sleep last night (but I for sure need some more coffee to keep going.) |
What to expect when you're expecting a GOP trifecta |
Donald Trump won back the White House. Republicans took hold of the Senate. And the GOP is on the path to retain control of the House of Representatives. From swift appointments of Trump's Cabinet choices to major changes in policy (think taxes, health care and immigration) Republicans in Congress are likely to use their leverage to advance Trump's priorities with few road blocks from Democratic minority. On Politics asks, you responded: Your reactions to the 2024 election |
I asked in Wednesday's edition what readers' thoughts were on the results of the presidential election. And many of you responded. Some expressed fear, anger and sadness. Others said they were hopeful and happy with the results. Here are a couple of responses: |
One reader, Jackie Wolf, who said she's a conservative Republican who voted for Donald Trump, said she believes Trump will bring down high prices and "ensure respect" of the United States on the world stage. |
"I was praying and I said 'Jesus you know who I want to be President, but I can't see down the road. I know You know all things, so I ask for your will to be done in this election.' I find out I was in tune with Christ for this election," Wolf said. |
But another reader, Sandra Sundheimer of Louisville, Kentucky, expressed concern over the results and fears another Trump presidency. While she didn't notice any signs that Trump could win, Sundheimer said Trump seems to always be undercounted in polling. |
"(I'm) very worried about what will happen to our country under a Trump presidency with no guard rails," she said. | |
