Just as Julia Child revolutionized French food, so did Cecilia Chiang with Chinese cuisine. After moving to the United States in 1959, Cecilia launched The Mandarin in San Francisco, introducing America to foods like hot and sour soup, pot stickers and Peking duck.

The Man Making Hasidic Music Pop

He's been called the Hasidic Lady Gaga, the Jewish Elvis, but soon, you'll know him as just Lipa. Raised in a close-knit community, Lipa Schmeltzer grew up with no radio and no television. Hasidic music became his outlet. After he heard his first non-Hasidic song at age 21, Lipa's life changed.

Warriors of Hula

A common misconception about hula is that it's a dance tradition strictly for women. Nope. In ancient Hawai'i, men were the first to dance hula, and the best dancers were even chosen to become warriors. Today, Ke Kai O Kahiki—one of Hawai'i's most famous male hula schools—is carrying on this tradition by telling warrior stories with dance.
