Who will take home TV's biggest prize? | Get your watchlist ready. The Emmy nominations are here! The Apple TV+ drama "Severance" got an impressive 27 nods, followed by HBO Max's "The Penguin" with 24. Other leading nominees included "The White Lotus," "The Last of Us" and "The Studio." To be honest, I don't know who I want more to take home the award for lead actress in a comedy series: Quinta Brunson of "Abbott Elementary" or Ayo Edebiri of "The Bear!" But I guess we'll see if one of them – or maybe another actress, I'm looking at you Jean Smart – will take home the golden trophy. The 77th Primetime Emmys award show is slated for Sept. 14 and will be hosted by comedian Nate Bargatze. 📺 See the full nominees list. | "Severance" scored 27 Emmy nominations, including nods for best actor and actress in a drama series for stars Adam Scott and Britt Lower (pictured). Tariff inflation may have finally arrived | Your grocery bill might be looking a little higher. Prices rose 2.7% in the 12 months through June, the Labor Department announced on Tuesday. It's the highest annual inflation rate since February and a sign that Trump's import tariffs may be hitting price tags – something that economists have warned about for months. Rising prices for housing, food and gasoline drove the increase. 👉 A pause on Trump's tariffs are ending and could drive prices higher. |
A shrinking Education Department | The Department of Education isn't dismantled – yet. But President Donald Trump is making moves to shrink it after the Supreme Court on Monday gave him the green light to fire more than 1,300 Education Department workers. Trump on Monday said the decision allows Education Secretary Linda McMahon to return "the functions of the Department of Education BACK TO THE STATES." Public K-12 schools are primarily overseen at the local level by school boards. 👉 What Trump said about the decision. |

Deadly flooding in the Northeast | Two people were killed in flash flooding in New Jersey after heavy rainfall on Monday swamped roads, knocked out power and prompted water rescues in major cities across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. The storms caused flash flooding in the metropolitan areas from New York City to Washington. Officials in New Jersey, which issued a state of emergency declaration, recorded 6 inches of rain in under two-and-a-half hours on Monday evening. Rainfall and flash flood risks to the Mid-Atlantic and Appalachian region are expected to last through mid-week, the National Weather Service said. 👉 See the flooding in New Jersey and New York. | Westchester County Department of Public Works employees Nick Fazio and Noel Padilla clear clogged drains on the flooded Bronx River Parkway in White Plains, New York, on Tuesday.
