The pause on Trump's trade war is coming to an end | President Donald Trump said he's imposing a 25% tariff on goods from Japan and South Korea beginning on August 1 – a move that comes as he continues his pressure campaign on longtime U.S. allies who have not yet entered into new trade agreements with his administration. Trump is expected to send other letters to smaller U.S. trading partners. As many as 100 could go out in total before Wednesday, when the president's pause on higher tariff rates is due to expire. A third of those surveyed nationwide last month said they sometimes or often worry that they themselves will be a victim of a disaster like a hurricane, tornado or flood. A 58% majority predicted that extreme weather events will become more frequent in the near future, though views differed along partisan lines; 84% of Democrats feeling that way compared to 38% of Republicans.
