A fire at a Massachusetts assisted living facility left several dead. President Donald Trump created an awkward moment at the Club World Cup final. And the results are in for America's (and my!) favorite couple of "Love Island USA." |
👋 Happy Monday! Rebecca Morin here. Hope you all had a great weekend! Let me catch you up on the news. |

Senior living facility 'engulfed in flames' | Nine people were killed and more than 30 were injured after a blaze at an assisted living facility in Massachusetts trapped residents inside. Firefighters responded Sunday night to Gabriel House assisted living facility in Fall River, about 50 miles south of Boston. Upon arrival, they saw the front of the building engulfed in flames and smoke and began kicking down doors and pulling screaming people out through windows while trying to quell the blaze. About 70 people were in the building when the fire broke out. 👉 What residents said about the fire. | Fire crews on scene at a fire at Gabriel House assisted living center in Fall River, Massachusetts, on Sunday, which killed nine people. Trump pressures Russia to reach Ukraine peace deal | The pressure is on – for Russia, at least. President Donald Trump said Monday that the United States is sending weapons to NATO so it can transfer the equipment to Ukraine and threatened steep tariffs aimed at hurting Russia's ability to finance its war with Ukraine. The moves come amid Russia's resistance to peace efforts and its attacks on Ukraine. Trump said the United States would place 100% secondary tariffs on countries that do business with Russia if a peace agreement is not reached within 50 days. 👉 Trump has expressed frustration with Russia. | President Donald Trump meets with NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte in the Oval Office as the president announced a deal to get U.S. weapons to Ukraine. Trump crashes Chelsea's trophy celebration | It was a Club World Cup upset. Not Chelsea's surprising 3-0 win over Paris Saint-Germain in Sunday's championship match, but President Donald Trump's controversial appearance. Trump joined FIFA President Gianni Infantino on the pitch at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey after the game − to audible boos from the crowd − and congratulated the players, coaches and referees. But he then stood with the Chelsea players as they waited to raise the trophy, prompting team captain Reece James to ask, "Are you going to leave?" Infantino eventually pulled Trump behind the players so the team could celebrate. ⚽️ What players said about Trump's appearance. | President Donald Trump joins the celebration as Chelsea's Reece James hoists the FIFA Club World Cup trophy. Hannah McKay, REUTERS | Many Americans voted (as did I!) and the results are in: Amaya Espinal and Bryan Arenales were crowned the winners of reality dating show "Love Island USA" 2025. Alongside their bragging rights as the fan-favorite couple, the two split a $100,000 prize. But it wasn't all just fun and games on the island. Two contestants – Yulissa Escobar and Cierra Ortega – were sent home early after fans discovered past online activity that involved racial slurs. Though the show is over, this isn't the last we'll be seeing of Amaya Papaya, as she nicknamed herself, or the other cast members. 📺 A reunion episode is slated to drop soon. | Runners-up Olandria Carthen and Nic Vansteenberghe, left, stand alongside "Love Island USA" Season 7 winners Amaya Espinal and Bryan Arenales.
