The fragile ceasefire between Israel and Iran is underway. New Yorkers head to the polls for a critical vote on NYC's next mayor. And one of the world's richest people is getting married this week − but not without controversy. |
👋 Hi hi! Rebecca Morin here. Ready for Tuesday's news? Keep scrolling! | Despite a rocky start, the ceasefire in the conflict between Iran and Israel is holding as President Donald Trump arrived in the Netherlands for a NATO summit on Tuesday. In Israel, the military lifted restrictions on gatherings, workplaces and schools, the Times of Israel reported. Ben Gurion Airport outside Tel Aviv has also returned to full operation. Meanwhile, in Iran, the country plans to reopen its airspace on the Tuesday night, Reuters reported, citing the state-affiliated Nour News. In the lead-up to the ceasefire, which was supposed to go into effect at midnight Washington, D.C., time on Tuesday, Israel and Iran traded accusations of firing missiles at each other. The countries violated the ceasefire agreement overnight. 👉 Follow the latest updates on the conflict. |
An (F)-bomb: On the morning after Iran and Israel traded missiles and accusations amid the ceasefire, an angry Trump had some choice words for both countries."We basically have two countries that have been fighting so long and so hard that they don't know what the (expletive) they're doing," Trump said on the South Lawn of the White House. "You understand that?" 👉 Trump also urged Israel to 'calm down.' | A drone view shows an impacted residential site, following an early morning missile attack from Iran on Israel, in Be'er Sheva, Israel June 24, 2025. New York City Democrats head to the polls on Tuesday to determine their party's nominee for every office from mayor to county court judge. But the two leading candidates for the mayoral race, former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, 67, and state Assembly Member Zohran Mamdani, 33, have captured national attention. Cuomo could see a major political comeback if he wins, after the three-term governor resigned in 2021 amid scandals, including covering up nursing home deaths and numerous allegations of sexual harassment, which he denies. Prominent figures in national politics have weighed in on the race – from Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Sen. Bernie Sanders backing Mamdani to former President Bill Clinton weighing in on behalf of Cuomo. 👉 What to know about the election. | Former New York governor and New York City mayoral candidate Andrew Cuomo votes at the High School of Art and Design in Manhattan on Tuesday. What we do know: the two's wedding week kicked off with a foam party on Bezos' multimillion-dollar yacht Koru off the coast of Europe on Sunday, according to photos published by media outlets including Fox News and People. But the lavish nuptials are also causing backlash, with protests across Venice. 💍 Everything we know about the Bezos-Sánchez wedding. | A large banner against Amazon founder Jeff Bezos lies on the ground, placed by Greenpeace Italy activists and UK activist group Everyone Hates Elon, in St. Mark's Square, ahead of the expected wedding of Bezos and Lauren Sanchez, in Venice, Italy, June 23, 2025.
