After two high-profile commercial plane crashes involving U.S. airlines this year, travelers have been left wondering if flying is still safe. | Statistically speaking, it is, but the statistics can be a little confusing. A cursory glance at numbers from the National Transportation Safety Board will show 67 deaths in commercial plane crashes this year – a huge upward surge after zero deaths last year and very out of line with the 10-year trend, in which commercial aviation deaths have generally been measured in the single digits. |
Can Canada turn the lights out? |
With President Donald Trump imposing 25% tariffs on goods imported from Canada and Mexico, leaders from both countries have responded in kind, with one even threatening the flow of electricity to three states. |
Ontario Premier Doug Ford shared an X post on Tuesday stating that he spoke with leaders in New York, Michigan and Minnesota, "putting them on notice" that his province is prepared to add a 25% surcharge on the electricity it exports to their states if Trump's tariffs remain in place. |
