Authorities are still searching for a missing college student in the Dominican Republic. Lawmakers are working to avoid a government shutdown. And what changes are coming to NFL teams this week? |
👋 Hey there! Rebecca Morin here. It's feeling like spring today in the nation's capital. Now let's spring into Monday's news. |
But first: Total (lunar) eclipse of the heart? This week's full moon will turn blood-red early Friday. |
Search for missing student underway in Dominican Republic | Authorities in the Dominican Republic have combed the island and water for University of Pittsburgh student Sudiksha Konanki, who was on a spring break trip on the island, amid reports that she may have drowned. Konanki, 20, who is originally from India but her family now lives in Virginia, was vacationing with five women from her school. |
Where was she last seen? Konanki was last seen Thursday while walking on a beach in Punta Cana, a resort town on the island. Surveillance cameras captured five women and one man leaving the beach at about 6 a.m. Thursday while Konanki stayed behind with another man. The man was seen leaving the beach hours later without her. |
What else do we know? Dominican National Police were interviewing the man, who they believed entered the waters with Konanki shortly before her disappearance. ABC News, citing unnamed sources involved with the investigation, said Konanki is believed to have drowned. 👉 Get to know Sudiksha Konanki. | Search crews gather in the coastal area of Bávaro, Dominican Republic, where Sudiksha Konanki vanished last week. The House is expected to vote on the funding bill Tuesday. 👉 Here's what happens if the government shuts down. |
