Musk wants to know what federal workers did last week – or else | Elon Musk, the world's richest man and special adviser to President Donald Trump, hit federal workers with an email over the weekend asking for "5 bullets of what you accomplished last week." And if they do not respond by midnight Monday, it will be taken as a resignation, Musk said. The new email is part of Trump and Musk's efforts to cut the federal workforce after implementing mass layoffs over the past few weeks. |
Not all on board: But agencies were divided on how to respond. Managers at departments including defense, homeland security, education and commerce advised their employees not to answer the email as they sought clearer legal guidance. 👉 What to know about the new ultimatum. | Elon Musk holds up a chainsaw during the Conservative Political Action Conference in Oxon Hill, Maryland, on Thursday. Three years of war in Ukraine | Monday marks three years since Russian troops invaded Ukraine in what has become the biggest and bloodiest conflict in Europe since World War II. Ukraine has fought back in the war in large part through support from the United States and European allies – but that is changing under the Trump administration. Trump has lashed out at Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, blamed him for the Russian invasion and begun negotiating with Russia without Ukrainian representation. 👉 What led to a U-turn on U.S. policy. | A man looks at the Romanivska Bridge over the Irpin river that was destroyed at the beginning of Russia's war on Ukraine on the day marking the third anniversary of Russia's invasion, outside Kyiv, Ukraine.
