President Donald Trump met with GOP leaders. A blizzard blankets the South. And fans were up all night to snag the hottest new "romantasy" book.

👋 Hi there! Rebecca Morin here. The cold has me craving some hot chocolate. But let's get to Tuesday's news.

But first: Remember falling in love? ❤️ Share your stories of your first date or some relationship advice with USA TODAY ahead of Valentine's Day.

Trump's first full day

With his inauguration celebrations and a deluge of executive orders behind him, President Donald Trump laid out more priorities for his agenda on his first full day in office.

On his schedule: Trump on Tuesday afternoon met with House Speaker Mike Johnson and Senate Majority Leader John Thune – the two GOP leaders who aim to help turn his agenda into law. While Republicans hold the White House and both chambers in Congress, the three leaders will have to navigate an ultra-thin majority in both the House and Senate.

Executive order pushback: Some of Trump's executive orders are already being met with legal action. His move to end automatic birthright citizenship for children whose parents are foreign nationals is being challenged by a lawsuit from a coalition of 18 states, and the American Civil Liberties Union also filed a separate legal challenge. 👉Follow today's coverage.

Gulf Coast blizzard warning

Many in the South along the Gulf Coast woke up to a white blanket of snow Tuesday. And some states, like Louisiana, even saw their first blizzard warning as a winter storm made its way from south Texas to northern Florida.

Historic storm: North Florida is bracing for the impacts of the winter storm. WeatherTiger meteorologist Ryan Truchelut predicted it will be "a historic storm any way you slice the cake." Other states are also feeling the effects. In Alabama, a state of emergency was proclaimed for 39 counties. Savannah, Georgia, is under a winter storm warning for Tuesday night. ❄️More on the winter weather.

New California wildfires break out

Multiple wildfires broke out in California's San Diego County on Tuesday, while Los Angeles officials remain on high alert amid strong wind and dry conditions amid the fires still plaguing the area.

Gains on new fires: The fires that broke out in the San Diego area have prompted evacuations, power outages and school closures. While officials said they have two of three fires under control, the largest blaze – the Lilac Fire – is still actively burning. 👉 What to know about the fires.
