The Chiefs sealed the franchise's third consecutive Super Bowl. President Donald Trump is holding off imposing tariffs and sanctions he threatened against Colombia. Monday is International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

Chiefs head to Super Bowl 59 with chance at NFL history

Back-to-back Super Bowl champions the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Buffalo Bills Sunday night 32-29 in a back-and-forth battle to advance to their third consecutive Super Bowl.

Why it matters: The Chiefs now have their sights on becoming the first team in NFL history to win three consecutive Super Bowl titles.

Who will the Chiefs face ? The Philadelphia Eagles will represent the NFC in the Super Bowl after their demolition of the Washington Commanders on Sunday. With seven rushing touchdowns, Philadelphia notched the highest scoring output ever in a conference championship game.
In case you missed last night's AFC Championship: Kansas City's defense came up late to keep Josh Allen and the Bills offense from making a comeback and secured a fourth playoff win over the Bills in the last five years.
Not too early to prep for the big game: The teams will face off in at the Superdome in New Orleans on Feb. 9 in a rematch of Super Bowl 57 ( here's what to know if you're trying to buy tickets).

Why Trump held off on Colombia tariffs

Disagreement between the U.S. and Colombia over President Donald Trump's mass deportations of migrants risked becoming a trade war, with both sides promising new tariffs on goods coming from the other country. The showdown started after Colombian President Gustavo Petro said his country wouldn't accept deportation flights from the U.S. unless migrants are "treated with the dignity that a human being deserves." Trump retaliated, saying he would slap tariffs on all goods coming into the U.S. from the South American country. In the tit-for-tat, Petro then responded with his own economic threats before finally agreeing to the "unrestricted acceptance" of U.S. military flights deporting Colombian migrants. Read more

California concerns turn from fire to mud

Intermittent showers sweeping across Southern California on Sunday provided welcome relief for firefighters battling devastating wildfires but threatened to bring an unwelcome side effect — mudslides. Showers could linger into Tuesday, spawning flood watches in areas where the Palisades, Franklin, Eaton, Bridge, and Hughes wildfires burned. The new potential hazard puts the very homes that survived the fires at risk again. Read more

What's the latest on TikTok?

President Donald Trump said over the weekend he was in talks with multiple people over buying TikTok and would likely have a decision on the popular app's future in the next 30 days. Early Saturday, Reuters reported two people with knowledge of the discussions said Trump's plan involves tapping software company Oracle and a group of outside investors to effectively take control of the app's operations. Under the deal being negotiated by the White House, TikTok's China-based owner, ByteDance, would retain a stake in the company, but data collection and software updates would be overseen by Oracle.
