Shooting suspect appears in court |
A day after a man was arrested in the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, prosecutors in New York City sought to extradite the suspect on multiple charges as new details about his possible motive began to emerge. |

NY prosecutors want to keep Trump case alive |
Manhattan prosecutors urged a New York criminal court to keep President-elect Donald Trump's hush money case alive, even if sentencing is pushed out past Trump's next presidential term. |
How we got here: Trump was convicted in May on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records to cover up a hush money payment to porn star Stormy Daniels just before the 2016 presidential election. He was initially scheduled for sentencing in July, but the sentencing date was repeatedly pushed back. |
But now: Since Trump was elected to be the next president, he is arguing that his sentencing should be canceled and the case should be tossed out. 🔎 Take a closer look. |
Malibu under mandatory evacuation |
A fast-moving wildfire sprang up Monday night in Southern California, forcing evacuations and destroying homes in Malibu, the iconic and affluent beach community northwest of Los Angeles. |
Franklin Fire: The raging wildfire had already burned 100 acres when firefighters were dispatched late Monday and had exploded in size by Tuesday morning, burning more than 2,000 acres and forcing firefighters to go door-to-door to evacuate parts of Malibu. The fire was fueled by strong Santa Ana winds and low humidity, creating red flag conditions in the region. 👉 More details about the fire. | Flames and smoke billow as the Franklin Fire burns in Malibu, California, on Tuesday.
