Hurricane Beryl became the earliest Category 5 hurricane on record Monday night, with winds up to 160 mph as it barreled into the southeast Caribbean. The explosive increase in wind speeds is a record for the strongest hurricane this early in the season. Those are ominous signs of what weather experts see as danger ahead in what is expected to be a hyperactive season for major storms.
