Here is the news to know Wednesday.

Donald Trump and Joe Biden pick up victories from coast to coast

Voters across the country made their voices heard on Super Tuesday, when Americans in 15 states and one U.S. territory cast votes in presidential primaries, congressional contests and a tight gubernatorial race in North Carolina.

Donald Trump's near-sweep of GOP contests in 15 states and one territory − with the exception of Vermont − put him within striking distance of enough Republican National Convention delegates to clinch the nomination, whether or not former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley continues to run against him.

President Joe Biden fended off his Democratic challengers and built momentum as he seeks a second term in office. The president only faced one loss to entrepreneur Jason Palmer in American Samoa.
Haley's presidential campaign didn't address the former South Carolina governor's future in the GOP race in a statement released Tuesday night. However, Haley continued to expose the former president's weaknesses with moderate voters and in swing states.
Are we headed for a 2020 rematch? Trump v. Biden might sound familiar enough, but a 2024 rematch between these two candidates is not simply a re-run of the original version four years ago. Changes in the candidates and the world are defining a different political landscape and creating new challenges, especially for Biden.

Israel, Hamas remain firm in cease-fire negotiations ahead of Ramadan

A Hamas delegation in Egypt will meet with mediators Wednesday as negotiations for a truce and release of hostages continue. Hamas made a proposal Tuesday for a truce that will be presented to Israel, Egyptian officials said, but both sides have remained at odds over the terms of a cease-fire agreement. President Joe Biden has warned a failure to get a cease-fire in Gaza before the start of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan early next week "could be very, very dangerous'' as both sides remain publicly firm in their positions. Why are so many Americans are having frustrations with medical bills?

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is urging insurance companies to take immediate steps to ease a digital logjam following a massive data hack that snarled administrative functions for hospitals, doctors, pharmacies and millions of patients. The department wants insurers to adopt temporary measures aimed at addressing administrative problems after Change Healthcare, a property of UnitedHealth Group, disclosed last month that hackers had disrupted operations for the company that processes 15 billion health-related transactions yearly. Since news of the hack became public last month, doctors and hospitals have been unable to bill for some services and patients have had trouble picking up prescriptions. Read more

Here's what to know about the chaos in Haiti

Haiti's spiral of violence appeared to hit new lows in recent days as the country's powerful gangs led a series of coordinated assaults in what seemed to be an effort to overthrow the authorities. A 72-hour state of emergency began Sunday night as a mass escape was conducted from two large prisons. Gunfire was also exchanged at the central bank, main airport and national soccer stadium, as a powerful gang leader directly challenged the nation's unpopular prime minister. James Crumbley bought his son a gun, and his son committed mass murder

James Crumbley is accused of making decisions that ultimately cost four children their lives — all murdered in a school shooting carried out by his son. He made one key decision that prosecutors are likely to focus on as he goes to trial: He took his son Ethan Crumbley on a Black Friday shopping trip in 2021 and bought a gun the teen had long begged for, the same one the 15-year-old would use four days later to shoot up his high school. Last month, James Crumbley's wife Jennifer Crumbley was convicted of involuntary manslaughter, making history as the first parent in America held criminally responsible for a mass school shooting carried out by their child. James Crumbley will be the third and final member of his family to face the justice system. Read more
