After watching his sons Eric and Don Jr. on the witness stand last week, Former President Donald Trump is set to testify Monday in a high-stakes Manhattan trial that could cost him $250 million and bar his iconic company from operating in New York. |
Trump's testimony comes after State Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron on Friday extended a partial gag order he imposed on the former president to include the Trump defense team. |

Israeli troops surround Gaza City as Blinken moves to contain war |
Israeli troops have divided the northern and southern parts of Gaza, as communications across the besieged territory were temporarily cut Monday for a third time since the war started. Israeli media reported the troops are expected to enter Gaza City on Monday or Tuesday. The developments come after large explosions in two Gaza refugee camps Sunday killed scores of Palestinians while further complicating the diplomatic attempts of Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who made unannounced stops in the West Bank and Iraq as he tries to mitigate the impacts of the Israel-Hamas war amid increasing outcries. Here's how Election Day could be a preview to 2024 |
Voters head to the ballot box this week in several states − and the outcomes might reveal more than just winners and losers. Election experts told USA TODAY several statewide elections − which include governor races in Kentucky and Mississippi − could preview challenges that might arise during the 2024 presidential election. That includes whether states can overcome challenges to recruit poll workers, adapt to voting law changes, maintain high voter turnout levels and combat the spread of disinformation. These tight races will also serve as a bellwether on key cultural issues set to be top of mind in 2024, from abortion to marijuana legalization. What we know about the House GOP's new plan to avoid a shutdown |
As Congress nears another government funding deadline on Nov. 17, House Republicans are considering a new approach to extending the current budget that House Speaker Mike Johnson is calling a "laddered CR." It would be a novel type of continuing resolution, the tool typically used by Congress to extend funding levels to keep the government running in lieu of an agreement on next year's federal budget. The step would extend the deadline for each of the 12 individual appropriations bills, rather than the budget as a whole, Johnson said. Read more |
NFL Week 9 recap: Not your average QB matchups |
Twenty teams were in action Sunday afternoon. Seven of them (35%) – whether due to performance, injuries or even a trade – started different quarterbacks than they did in Week 8. Furthermore, the Minnesota Vikings and New York Giants both had to make mid-game switches after Jaren Hall and Daniel Jones, respectively, saw their days cut short by injuries. Hall and the Arizona Cardinals' Clayton Tune became the eighth and ninth rookie quarterbacks to start a game this season. All told, seven rookie QBs started in Week 9, the most in one weekend in nearly four years. There was a definite enthusiasm in the air for the 52nd running of the TCS New York City Marathon as more than 50,000 runners lined up in Staten Island to complete the grueling 26.2-mile five-borough trek through the city. Tamirat Tola of Ethiopia pulled away from the pack and coasted to victory in the men's professional race, setting a new open division course record, breaking the tape at Central Park in 2:04:58.
