Fed's Jerome Powell says neutral rate may be higher

Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell says the neutral interest rate may be higher.

Bloomberg, Bloomberg

Good morning, it's Medora Lee from Chicago.

I'm super excited forecasts are for a 75-degree day here tomorrow and even better, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said we may have an unusually warm winter! From a place that's been affectionately called " Chiberia" and has been through a polar vortex just a short couple of years ago, you can understand how exciting a mild winter is for us, even if it's because of El Nino.

What's less happy, though, is the volatility in the stock and bond markets. The 10-year yield pierced 5% for the first time since July 2007 on worries the Federal Reserve will make good on a promise to keep interest rates high and because of ballooning government deficits. This is all weighing on stocks and the outlook for the economy, market strategists said.
