Republicans are having a moment

Congress has been a beehive of activity that includes avoiding a shutdown and removing Republican leadership. Basically, we've been busy.

The Republicans have had a wild few days that ended with the House Speaker Kevin McCarthy being ousted after he worked with Democrats to avoid a government shutdown.

So where do things go from here? Honestly, we're as interested to find out as you are because anything seems possible. Thankfully we have some columns to help navigate what it all means. Also, we know it's been a while since we've sent this newsletter. We had to first work on ourselves before getting back into the swing of things....but let's not make a whole thing out of it.

Major challenges     Some of the major challenges children and young adults have faced during the pandemic relate to changes in: -- Their routine (routines contribute to children feeling safe)  -- Breaks in continuity of learning (an uncertainty about school is an additional source of anxiety)  -- Breaks in continuity of health care (which has meant limited access to mental and physical health services)  --Missed significant events (including vacations   (which provide quality time with family and friends)  -- Lost security and safety (as there has been a rise in family violence during the crisis).
