Hi OnPolitics readers! Have you ever stayed up on Election Day waiting for results from a crucial swing state like Ohio or Florida?

🔔 Add another state to the list. Virginia might be the country's modern bellwether, USA TODAY's Savannah Kuchar reported, with voters in the state having a near-perfect track record for picking recent national election winners.

🗳️ All eyes on Virginia? Democratic and Republican activists say they're focused on winning the state in the 2023 off-year elections. Senators and representatives from the Virginia State Senate and House of Delegates will all be up for reelection for the first time in four years, and the results of the races could send a clear signal about the state's fate in the 2024 presidential election.

🐘 Virginia Republicans want to hold their majority in the state House and flip their Senate red, much like the national GOP aspires to keep the U.S. House of Representatives and take back the majority in the Senate in 2024.

Gov. Glenn Youngkin has told USA TODAY that he's "incredibly focused" on the upcoming elections in his state, even as presidential buzz has surrounded him for months.
