Hi there OnPolitics readers! House lawmakers returned to the Capitol on Tuesday and jumped into an impeachment inquiry against President Joe Biden.

🏃‍♂️ House Speaker Kevin McCarthy announced that the House Oversight, Judiciary and Ways and Means committees will lead the inquiry after months of investigating Biden, who Republicans allege benefited from his son Hunter Biden's business dealings, USA TODAY's Ken Tran reported.

Red meat: The White House immediately balked at the move, with Ian Sams, special assistant to the president, saying "Opening impeachment despite zero evidence of wrongdoing by POTUS is simply red meat for the extreme rightwing so they can keep baselessly attacking him."

Hang on, isn't the government about to shut down? Yes, government funding technically expires on Sept. 30. With the news of an impeachment inquiry, it's not clear if lawmakers will have enough time to avert a shutdown.

Speaking of the looming government shutdown, Florida Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz is threatening to oust House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, alleging that he did not put lawmakers in a position to succeed as the government approaches a potential shutdown, USA TODAY's Rachel Looker reports.

The wreckage was discovered in 2012 and a recovery effort has taken place each summer.

The military's promise to leave no troops behind is challenged by Alaska's harsh climate and a decades-old plane crash.
