Hi there, OnPolitics readers. It seems like one of the several criminal inquiries Donald Trump faces may soon be wrapping up, USA TODAY reporters David Jackson and Bart Jansen report.

A series of signs suggest that the DOJ is near the end of its investigation of the former president over the classified documents found at Mar-a-Lago and with that, a decision on a potential indictment.

The signs: After requesting a meeting via letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland, Trump attorneys John Rowley and James Trusty arrived at the DOJ Monday, according to a person familiar with the investigation.

The meeting comes on the heels of the DOJ notifying former Vice President Mike Pence that he would not be prosecuted for the discovery of classified documents found at his Indiana home.

Trump denies any wrongdoing: In a Truth Social post Sunday, Trump cited "reports" that prosecutors "want to indict me on the BOXES HOAX," describing the investigation as political retaliation. In another section of the post, he wrote, in all-caps, that "I HAVE DONE NOTHING WRONG. ELECTION INTERFERENCE!"
