Trump arrives in New York ahead of historic court date

Former President Donald Trump flew to New York on Monday in anticipation of his arraignment Tuesday. The first former president to ever be criminally charged,  Trump is expected to have his mug shot and fingerprints taken, have the formal charges read and then plead not guilty "loudly and proudly," his lawyer Joe Tacopina said. The charges against Trump have yet to be revealed, but legal experts say he is likely facing multiple misdemeanors and at least one felony related to hush-money payments to two women. 👉 Follow our live coverage.

US presses Russia to release WSJ reporter

With efforts to win his release stretching "all the way up to the Oval Office," Russian lawyers representing Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich on Monday appealed his arrest on charges of espionage. Russia's Federal Security Service alleged that the American journalist "was acting on the U.S. orders," but the Journal and U.S. government have denied Gershkovich is a spy and have demanded his release. National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said Monday that the Biden administration is doing all it can on behalf of Gershkovich. 👉 Catch up on the latest updates from Ukraine.
