How could a night of celebration turn so quickly into terror? Residents in Dadeville, Alabama, were grappling to understand what happened leading up to a deadly shooting at a Sweet 16 party. Four people were killed and 32 were injured. Alexis Dowdell, who said she had been planning her birthday party for months, painfully recalled Monday how she begged her dying brother to "stay with me" after he was shot. As of Tuesday morning, officials had yet to release much detail about the investigation – including about suspects or possible motive – and urged patience as they asked anyone with information to reach out to authorities. Fox News reaches last-minute settlement over false election claims |
Averting a trial in a defamation case that exposed how the top-rated network chased viewers by promoting lies about the 2020 presidential election, Fox News and Dominion Voting Systems reached a $787.5 million settlement Tuesday just before the trial was to begin. Further details of the settlement were not immediately available. Dominion sued Fox News and its parent corporation in 2021, claiming the network knowingly broadcast lies being perpetuated by former President Donald Trump and his attorneys as he clung to power after his 2020 election loss. According to a Pew Research Center survey, only 44% of workers ages 18 to 29 are highly satisfied with their occupations versus 65% of adults 65 and older. Older workers are more likely to have favorable opinions of certain aspects of their jobs, like their connections with co-workers or their potential for advancement. The survey also found workers under 50 are more likely than their older colleagues to say their job is stressful and overwhelming.
