Talking Tech: How to tell friends you can't share Netflix

Remember the classic song "Breaking Up is Hard to Do?" It's going to apply to our Netflix accounts soon. ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌

Talking Tech

Thursday, March 2

Welcome to Thursday, Talking Tech readers. March is here, which means springtime, basketball and corned beef (if you celebrate St. Patrick's Day). It's Brett Molina ready with your tech headlines.

Remember the classic song "Breaking Up is Hard to Do?" It's going to apply to our Netflix accounts soon.

No, it's not about cancelling Netflix (which is actually pretty easy). It's about telling your friends and family they can't use your Netflix account any longer.

The reason? The streaming service will soon start charging customers more to share their accounts with someone outside their household. So either you pay up, or your friends will have to get their own account.

So what's the best way to tell your friends? One expert sums it up with two words: Blame Netflix.

What else happened in tech?

New limits on TikTok. App will limit users under 18 to 60 minutes per day.

Scams are everywhere. Are we doing enough to protect ourselves?

Leave Bluetooth active on your phone? Here's why you should turn it off when not using it.

Thursday tech tip

We've all heard the warnings that keeping your smartphone near you at bedtime can interrupt sleep. But there is technology out there that can actually help you snooze. Columnist Jennifer Jolly checked out some of the best devices for helping you sleep.

One more thing

Look, I love chicken. And I certainly love chicken sandwiches. But call me a traditional guy who prefers his chicken sandwiches with that yummy filet in between a bun or bread. KFC decided it's going to bring back a sandwich where two chicken filets serve as the bread, with cheese and bacon in the middle. KFC calls it the Double Down. As in double down on the chicken, or our cholesterol levels after we eat it?

That's a wrap. Thanks for reading!
